About ULAN
For over 30 years, the United Labor Agency of Nevada (ULAN) has served as a critical lifeline for working families across Southern Nevada. Founded in 1995 as a collaborative effort between the Nevada State AFL-CIO and United Way of Southern Nevada, ULAN was created to ensure that union members and their families had access to essential community resources during times of need.
What began as a referral-based organization—connecting individuals to housing, food, and utility assistance—has since evolved into a direct service provider, expanding its reach beyond union households to support the broader community. Today, ULAN stands at the intersection of labor and compassion, delivering tangible support to those facing financial hardship, unexpected crises, or barriers to stability.
Over the decades, ULAN has helped more than 75,000 families remain housed, keep their lights on, and put food on the table. Our services are rooted in dignity and accessibility, focusing on immediate need rather than rigid income thresholds—because we understand that hardship doesn’t always follow a formula.

Our Services
ULAN provides a range of direct assistance programs designed to meet individuals and families where they are:
-
Rental Assistance – Preventing eviction and keeping families safely housed
-
Utility Assistance – Helping avoid service disconnection during critical times
-
Food Assistance – Operating a food pantry to ensure no family goes hungry
-
Case Management – Offering personalized support to connect clients with additional resources and long-term stability solutions
In addition to these core services, ULAN has developed innovative programs to address specific community needs:
-
Pet Food Pantry – Because no one should have to choose between feeding themselves or their pets
-
Hunger Is Children’s Breakfast Program – Providing easy-to-prepare, nutritious breakfasts so children can start their school day ready to learn

A Community-Driven Mission
ULAN is guided by a volunteer Board of Trustees composed of leaders from organized labor and the broader community, ensuring our work remains grounded in the real needs of working people. Our programs are made possible through a combination of grants, union support, payroll contributions, fundraising events, and generous donations from individuals and organizations.
As economic uncertainty and funding challenges continue to impact nonprofits nationwide, ULAN remains steadfast in its mission: to support, uplift, and advocate for the working families who form the backbone of our community.
Because when workers are supported, our entire community is stronger.
